Danny Way Breaks 'Bomb Drop' World Record by Dropping 28 Feet from the Fender Stratocaster Guitar at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
LAS VEGAS, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 6, internationally renowned pro skateboarder Danny Way (http://www.dannyway.com/) smashed the "Bomb Drop" (1) world record by freefalling 28 feet from the Fender Stratocaster guitar atop the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas onto a ramp below. The event, originally scheduled for April 5, was rescheduled due to inclement weather conditions.

Thousands of spectators watched Way execute the drop off the guitar onto a ramp built by John Tyson and his team at VP Industries. The guitar, originally estimated at 66 feet tall, stands 12 feet higher than original estimates at 78'. Top skateboarding vert professionals Bob Burnquist, Pierre-Luc "PLG" Gagnon, Rune Glifberg, Tony Magnusson, Mathias Ringstrom, and Jake Brown also made appearances at the Hard Rock on April 6 to ride the MegaRamp. Skateboarding legends, Lance Mountain, Nicky Guerrero, Bruno Passos were there to support. The event was hosted by pro skateboarder and TV personality Felix Arguellas and Dave Duncan (ex pro skateboarder and the voice of the X Games, Dew Tour and the Olympics).

The Bomb Drop event, created by Way and Ignition to launch their mobile phone content company specializing in action sports, was hosted by Ignition, m-Qube and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, as part of the mobile communications industry's annual CTIA trade show. The first carrier to offer Ignition content will be Boost Mobile, a youth lifestyle wireless telecommunications brand that is sponsoring the event.
